Joseph R. Kemper

June 6, 1910 - April 21, 1985

Joseph Kemper, father of four and Prince William Chief Forest Warden with the Virginia Division of Forestry, believed in the Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department long before it existed. Dedicated to his community, he led the effort to establish the department, donating land for a temporary station and breaking ground for the current one. His actions inspired generations of volunteers to serve with dedication and passion.

Sedric-Simmons

Sedric L. Simmons

September 11, 1921 - September 1, 2007

Sedric “Sed” Simmons, a Charter Member, President, and longtime member of the Board, played a vital role in the growth and success of the Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department. His tireless dedication was key to bringing the new Kemper Station to life, a project that reflects his vision and commitment to the community. In recognition of his remarkable service, the community hall now bears his name—a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to Buckhall and its community.

John-Kennedy

John H. Kennedy

March 31, 1945 - October 20th, 2018

As a founding member and longtime president, John Kennedy played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation and future of the department. His leadership and vision guided the organization through some of its early challenges and drove the expansion of the station to better serve the growing community. His dedication and commitment continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps. The John H. Kennedy President’s Award is given in his honor.
